The town of Moulay Idris is nestled in the hills across the road from Volubilis. Much of the stone used to build it came from Volubilis.

I have no idea what this is but it reinforces my idea that people put work into the simplest items to decorate them.

These mosaics have not been restored: this is the way they were uncovered.

Our guide could not / would not tell us what had been restored. I expect that most of the columns had fallen over once the city was abandoned sometime around the 11th century AD
