On the 2nd of May we thought it would be safe to turn on the sprinklers.
Imagine our surprise when we had temperatures low enough to freeze everything that same morning.
We took a drive up to Georgia O'Keefe country. She painted what she saw, and we photographed some of the settings. This is the Pedernal. Link to external picture
We spent some time at Ghost Ranch, north of Abique. O'Keefe spent time here and used it as a base. Link to external picture
There is a fossil bed on the Ghost Ranch. A small museum has been built to show some of the work done there.
This is the famous El Farolito restaurant in El Rito. It doesn't look like much from the outside (or the inside, either) but the food is good and it really is famous. It has been written up in Roadfood, the New York Times, Travel and Leisure magazine and others. We had a pretty good lunch here. link to article
We had some rain sweep past our house.
Here are the results of the famous May 5th rainstorm.
We visited the "Aztec Ruins" National Monument. This area, which has absolutely nothing to do with the Aztecs, is in the northwest part of New Mexico, near Farmington.
People lived here around the 1100s. more info
We were able to walk around in some of the houses.
