Soldiers once lived in these rooms. The size and shape and general layout reminded me of the complexes we have seen beside old Spanish missions in New Mexico.

My guess is that this would have been pretty dark when the rooms were covered.

It is easy to imagine guards up here 800 years ago.

The Catedral de la Anunciación (Cathedral of the Incarnation) didn't get started until after the Reconquista. It covers the location of where the largest mosque in Granada once stood. We did not get a chance to go inside.
