We visited the Temple of Apollo at Claros. THis once ranked with Delphi and Didyma.

If you look just under the surfice of the water you can see more of the temple. The ground here is very marshy.

More of the temple. You can't see them, but there were many frogs and there calls made a real cacophony.

Several areas we visited claimed to be the home of birthplace of Homer. [And you thought he lived in the Greece we know today.] Claros was no exception.

The Belevi Mausoleum is close to a modern highway but appears to have few visitors.

This was once the 2nd largest mausoleum in the area after the famous one in Halicarnassus. Now it is the largest.

These walls seem to be in good condition. The stones in the foreground were incompletely worked.

Throughout the trip I wondered how all of the pieces we saw ended up being jumbled off to the side like this. Was it because of earthquakes or was man the cause?
