The bell tower of the cathedral/mosque (mezquita). It was once a minaret. Taken on the edge of the orange garden.

While sheltering from the rain and waiting for Patricia, I spotted this typical entrance to an interior patio. The tiles are also typical.

Un teatro romano está enterrado debajo de la plaza frente al museo arqueológico de Córdoba. There is a Roman theater buried beneath this plaza. The Archeological Museum of Córdoba is built above and around it.

Even though the picture is fuzzy, it gives an idea of the layout of the theater.

The are around Córdoba has been occupied for a long time. This piece is several thousand years old.

Esta piedra se encuentra en el museo arqueológico de Córdoba. Las marcas son similares a algunos petroglifos en el suroeste. I see a strong resemblance to some pictographs in the Soutwest of the U.S.

Could this decoration be a depiction of something inside the mezquita or is it earlier? (I think earlier because of the capitols)

Ataurique es piedra pegada a una pared, en este caso un friso. This frieze uses a stylized plant motif. It is from the 10th century. The type of frieze is called "Ataurique" The pieces would have been attached to a wall, rather than carved directly on it.

Estas dos estatuas representan la Anunciación. Estaban en una iglesia, ahora están en el museo. These statues, which represent the Annunciation, were in a church before they were in the museum. I like the composition of the picture with the detailed statues and the large empty space.

Monedas pequeñas de período de romano. Small coins from the Roman period. Many such hoards, from many periods of Córdoban history, have been found. Apparently, people buried them in times of trouble and didn't always come back for them.
