The second quarter of the year gave me a chance to visit Belvidere to see my parents and siblings, our first SAR trip of the year to see petroglyphs, a visit from Kate and Abby, the first public bronze pour at IAIA, the IAIA powwow, and fires, fires, fires.

In June, Patricia went on a SAR day trip to the Mora Valley to explore the history of fiber arts in Northern New Mexico. The captions from this trip are all hers.
We visited the Mora Valley Spinning Mill and Tapetes De Lana weaving co-operative as well as a llama/ alpaca ranch. We would love to share all of this with you so come for a visit and we will take you.

This is another bobbin-winding machine - don't know the technical name. The thread will be put on cones, most likely to be used for weaving.

The raw materials have to come from somewhere. After we visited the Spinning Mill and Weaving Studio we went to the alpaca ranch where shearing was in full swing so we were able to watch that process....notice the difference between the white one that was just sheared and the wooly black one that was waiting hi/her turn.

An old grain mill right outside Mora. This has been beautifully restored and over the Labor Day weekend is in full operation with a festival on the grounds. We hope to go this year. Come with us.

Even though we were conerned about the air quality, we headed out the the Museum of New Mexico annual Chiles and Sherds event. This year the event was held on the San Cristobal Ranch. We took a walk with a group of archeologists and other experts to look at Pueblo Largo.
