I mentioned that the site was excavated in the 1950s. Those operations were run by Dorothy Dutton. Her " digging crew" was made up of Girl Scouts who were working on merit badges. Some of those "dirty diggers" joined us on this tour, 60 years later.

In mid-June Patricia spotted this fire just north of Santa Fe. It is now called the Pacheco fire and is still burning at the end of June. I took this picture from the trail head across the street from our house.

Every afternoon the Pacheco fire seemed to billow up again. This is a week after it started. I used a wide angle lens to get as much as I could of the smoke. That is why there is some blurriness on the bottom.
