In mid-June Patricia spotted this fire just north of Santa Fe. It is now called the Pacheco fire and is still burning at the end of June. I took this picture from the trail head across the street from our house.
We were amazed and worried by how quickly this fire grew. Little did we know that Just a wek later we would se a much larger fire.

Every afternoon the Pacheco fire seemed to billow up again. This is a week after it started. I used a wide angle lens to get as much as I could of the smoke. That is why there is some blurriness on the bottom.

I used a polarizing filter to emphasize the whiteness of the top layer of smoke, but the image is just the way we saw it.
