Amsterdam

Amsterdam
We stayed at the Intercontinental in Amsterdam. It is right beside the Amstel and was ideally located for our walks.
Along the Amstel, south of our hotel.
As you can see, it was a little cool and breezy.
The instrument was bigger than its carrier.
One of the old buildings in typical style. Much of the Amstel was bordered by houseboats.
Enjoying the afternoon at our hotel.
The Rijksmuseum renovations were not quite finished when we visited.
Amazingly, inside the Rijksmuseum, I was allowed to take pictures of the art work as long I did not use a flash.
Zoom in on this for wonderful details.
The closest I'll get to my own Vermeer.
I thought this was an extraordinarily realistic picture.
Another Vermeer
The park outside the Rijksmuseum.
Eating a local treat: waffles covered with cherry sauce.
We took a canal tour and motored past a restored sailing ship.
It was difficult to get a "square" picture from the canal boat when we were in the harbor.
The flower market.
Since we don't live in Colorado, we thought we would not try to bring home a starter set.
There were still lots of flowers even though it was mid-September
