Noah captured a dragon buried (or emerging) from the lava.

A lava wall. It will be a long time before those trees are removed and something replaces them.

Looking into a small lava tube. They are hollow inside, so I wondered where the lava they transported went.

After our lava field tour, we had lunch at a local place. The food was quite good I think Patricia tried the moko loco.

We descended a little way into the Kaumana Caves. tThey are really the end of a very long lava tunnel. The caves were too low for my head, but just about right for Noah.

We needed the giant flashlight when we got into the caves.

Even getting down to teh entrance was an adventure.

This picture of the interior turned out far better than I expected. Notice what almost look like ribs along the sides.

We also visited Rainbow Falls at Wailuku River state park. I saw no rainbows..

The person at the top left gives you an idea of the scale of the falls.

I tried various exposures to capture the essence of the falls, but did not really succeed.

This time I captured some of the spray in the background as well as managing to get the foreground in focus.

Our final stop of the day was at Carl Smith Beach Park, in Hilo, where Noah found a turtle.

Isn't this a nice lagoon? Noah waded all over it.

On the whole trip we were so impressed with Noah's willingness to do new things.
