When we left Gran Quivira, we took back roads through Lincoln County through Ruidoso and Ruidoso Downs and spent the night at the Inn of the Mountain Gods on the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation. This is a picture of the lake on which the resort sits.

On Friday morning we drove from the hotel (over Highways 70 and 244) through Cloudcroft, NM on our way to Alamogordo. On the way out of Cloudcroft on Highway 82, we stopped at a viewpoint.
