Claros
We visited the Temple of Apollo at Claros. THis once ranked with Delphi and Didyma.
This is a model of the temple. The oracle would have been below ground and had to be entered through the temple.

If you look just under the surfice of the water you can see more of the temple. The ground here is very marshy.
More of the temple. You can't see them, but there were many frogs and there calls made a real cacophony.
Many pieces of the temple have been recovered but not fully restored.

Several areas we visited claimed to be the home of birthplace of Homer. [And you thought he lived in the Greece we know today.] Claros was no exception.

You can tell this was meant to be Homer because it shows a blind man.
The Belevi Mausoleum is close to a modern highway but appears to have few visitors.
This was once the 2nd largest mausoleum in the area after the famous one in Halicarnassus. Now it is the largest.
