Acropolis and Parthenon from hotel

We had a mostly uneventful trip from home to Athens. Those are the best kind. We were a little late getting into Amsterdam, but that worked out fine because our flight to Athens was about an hour and a half late.

Yesterday and today there have been public transportation and taxi strikes and air traffic control was still messed up from a one-day strike. Our luggage showed up quickly—not as quickly as Patricia wanted—and we were through customs and immigration in no time at all. It was about a 45-minute ride in a taxi to the hotel. Traffic was heavy once we got into the city. The taxi driver offered to drive us around in the city tomorrow (Saturday) for a pretty reasonable rate so we’ll do that rather than get a half-day bus tour.

The hotel is nice and we got upgraded to a room with a view of the Acropolis and the Parthenon. We went to the lounge on our floor and took a few pictures of the Acropolis at night. Early evening for both of us.

My computer refuses to read any of the pictures from either of the cameras. It looks like I have some troubleshooting to do.

Update: Finally managed to get the camera to upload pictures. this is one of the first pictures we took Friday evening.
