We begin in Barcelona, then to Seville, then to Jerez de la Frontera, and will finish in Lisbon.
We visited Barcelona in 2024, but only for a few days. On this visit we will have more time and we plan to both revisit places we saw then, like Sagrada Familia, and new places, like Gaudi’s Park Güell. We are going to stay in the Gothic Quarter where we are somewhat familiar with the streets. One of the first things we will do is take a walking food tour which we have found is a good way to get oriented.
We will take a 6.5 hour train journey from Barcelona to Seville (Sevilla) where we have spent many days. For once we have a very open schedule which will give us lots of time to walk around, eat at new and old places and, almost certainly, see some flamenco. The Airbnb apartment where we are staying is withing a few feet of the first tablao where we saw Spanish flamenco when we first visited many years ago.
From Sevilla we will take a much shorter train ride to Jerez de la Frontera, where we will spend a week. We usually go to Jerez in late February and early March for a large flamenco festival, but we decided it would be a nice change to visit at a different time of the year.
We will end our trip in Lisbon, another city we have visited before and one which we like a great deal. In fact, we extended our original vacation timeline so we could spend more time in Lisbon. We are going to try to see new places there and to avoid the temptation to only revisit places we know.
On this trip we have plenty of places we want to visit and things we want to do but we have left lots of time for simply exploring.
You can see our calendar for the trip, and check out the pictures and posts, all under this heading.
