Pictures from each leg of the trip.

The Catedral Almundena is massive

The main doors to the cathedral are not often used

The cathedral is laid out in the traditional Catholic fashion with a central nave

I was trying to capture the interior height

We were so impressed with the decorations and colors throughout the cathedral

Well-executed scenes

This isn't even the main dome, and look at the details

I thought the picture of this statue turned out very well

The art in this chapel in the cathedral was done in a style from the 1200s, I think. It can't be that old in this cathedral

An example of the stained glass in the cathedral

I thought this image also turned out really well.

The patron saint of Madrid: La Virgin de Almundena

the organ in the cathedral is also used for concerts

This part of the cathedral is aligned with the royal palace, which is across a couple of very large plazas

Batacuda women's empowerment group

Statue in the plaza; these are to be found everywhere and I think they are all the same except for the name plaque.

It looks crowded, but this is the normal crowd, not the Sunday crowd we expect

One does not expect to find Harry Potter in the Plaza Mayor

Seen on the "alternate route" back to the apartment

Helpful location guide at Corte Ingles

From 9th floor of Corte Ingles. There aren't that many tall buildings around here.

A church dome from Corte Ingles

Looking down on Plaza Callao

Church spires

I think that is San Francisco church

Many of the buildings in this area are from the late 20s and early 30s

Snow in the background. I don't know how far away the mountains are.

Lots of treats were to be found here

The Gran Via

More skyline

14-the 9-story Corte Ingles. No, the buildings aren't tilted.

I liked this composition with the very large figure in front and the snowy mountains in the distance.

Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Carmen

Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Carmen; I think everything is all cleaned up for Semana Santa (Holy Week)

Exactly what it looks like: Mexican mariachis in Puerta del Sol

The sun and the wind and water combined for a nice picture

The horse in this statue in Puerta del Sol looks like it has been impaled by the crane.

El Oso y El Madroño (The Bear and the Strawberry Tree); Yes, the bear is eating the leaves; Yes, this is part of the Madrid coat of arms. No, don't ask me why.
